I am alive and well

It has been a very long time since I have written a post. I could sit here and make up excuse after excuse of why I haven’t written, but the truth is that I have been a bit lazy on posting to my blog. There have been a few more interesting things going on in my life, like watching my husband become a truck driver after he has spent most of his life (well, since at least junior high) working on computers, visiting with friends over the holidays, hanging out and watching TV, taking naps, hanging out with my family, and just doing nothing. It has felt good.

For someone who is used to working 60 hour weeks, I needed a well deserved break. Since I am the boss I can do whatever it is that I want. The fact remains that none of you have died or not moved forward with your businesses because I have not posted for a while. You will continue to go on even without a daily guide to the errand and concierge universe. For a long time I put on the persona that I thought everyone wanted me to present myself in. That cart and pony has just gotten old. I want to be me, the real me.

I like sharing the fact that I wanted to save myself some money on toners, so one time I was shaking the toner like crazy to be able to get another 100 pages printed and ended up with the ink dust all over my shirt and hands. I like sharing the fact that as a board member, I was so tired from staying up the night before that I was late the next morning to the first day of the conference and was not able to be introduced because I had woken up early, turned off the alarm, went back to bed, and overslept. Why do I like sharing this with you? Because it is the real me. No more hiding.

Being real with others builds relationships. No one likes talking to someone else who comes across as fake. Then you don’t know what their real agenda is. You don’t know how well you can trust them. You don’t know if they are truly looking out for your needs. So, as Judy Garland once said, “Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.”

Be on the lookout for new posts, although I won’t give you a schedule as to when they will occur. Just a whim when I think of something I want to write about.
